![]() Welcome to the home of the very worst of the meretricious poetasters! number 36 for 8-27-05: Weakening the United States Cindy, Cindy, Cindy. The mother of a soldier who died who is now against the war. The focus of a bored news media. My take on this subject is varied. I think that the whole affair is a shame and a pox on the media, and is edging toward a blemish on free speech or a Kent State affair. Cindy went to Texas for attention. To bring attention to the war, attention to her son, and undoubtedly, as her critics repeatedly claim, attention to herself. People followed her to be the anti- to her protest, saying that America isn't represented by what she says (or whatever, she hates the troops, loves the commies, hates God, pick two.). The media and protest people who critique Cindy for going to Texas for attention are doing so in that they can receive attention for their views, making them hypocritical when they condemn her, so the only sound position in the media is an unbiased report. Ergo, every major news media organization has been hypocritical in their treatment of Cindy. Because, on EVERY major news organization I have viewed, they have all taken a crap in the hat of a woman who lost a son to war. It's like the people who endlessly belittled John Kerry's war record in defense of a president who dodged going to war. It's hypocritical, partisan bullshit, and in this case, it's lodged firmly in the realm of nitwit republican ideologues. Oh ho, Neal! But aren't you doing the same thing? Nah, because I don't really give a shit about Cindy or the Republicans. I don't think either is right or wrong. Both are partisan, out for attention, and use publicity firms to prove their points instead of facts and research. And besides, I HAVE no large scale attention. If I wanted that, I'd have to start writing in a vein and for a network. I don't want that. I much prefer honesty and integrity without agenda. I write a diary of the happenings that disgust me. You could loosely call it an editorial, but I don't do it to persuade. I don't think this is going to change shit. To those of us who have opposed the war from the beginning, loudly, and publicly, Cindy is a slap in the face. She didn't stop her son from going. She's a Johnny-come-lately in terms of this protest. She didn't regret the war until after her son died, and that's a selfish way to come to a moral conclusion. The republicans have blindly supported this war from the start, ignorant, wasteful, and dangerous. I like to see those two groups of morons fighting it out. It'll just bring more attention to this QUAGMIRE and maybe, just maybe, fix it. In the meanwhile, Bush urges everyone to stay the course, even though no course is really plotted in the public view. He says that protesting the war doesn't reflect the will of military families, and that it undermines our effort to win. You kidding me? Military families support war? Wonder why. Could it be money in their pockets and an affirmation of their beliefs? Is it a surprise if a writer who starts speaking out against New York publishing houses is hated and shunned by his colleagues? From my perch, I'd say not. As for undermining our efforts to win, I would have to simply point out this: 90% of our efforts to win is good gear, a good war plan, good leadership, a good battleground, and war finance. Of these, Bush has provided only moderate war finance, of which 8 billion dollars was just somehow "lost" while our troops lack proper armor. The other ten percent is morale of the troops. 99 percent of which is supported by a JUST war. Which this is not. So Bush, if my lone little voice, if Sheehan's PR touted voice, if either of these can destroy morale, it is only due to your colossal failure in leadership to promote a popular and just war that brings liberty instead of debt, sadness, scorn, irresolute destruction in cyclical rebuilding, foreign anger, and DEATH. So yeah. Fuck you. I am "...advocating a policy that would weaken the United States."? Sometimes being weak and wise is better than being a fucking bully in err. They even know that on the playground, you douche. Citation Citation Citation |
