![]() Welcome to the home of the very worst of the meretricious poetasters! number 47 for 9-7-05: Well, I Think That's Bullshit. And I Hate it. Ah yes, a title like that can only mean an article about censorship, right? My favorite topic, partially because the examples of American censorship and prudish ignorance is indefinite, partially because it's fucking funny to see people who don't know how retarded it is to even suggest that anything someone says is inappropriate without also saying that they stand against the first amendment. Free speech is free speech. It's either: A) We agree upon what is okay to say and fuck a bunch of people who disagree in the minority, or B) A man can say "Fuck the government" and get away with it in the same way a diabolical asshole can say "Niggers are the devil." And get away with it. Personally, I take B, because I know that I can ignore the idiot and say Fuck the Government with liberty. Problem is, the A people don't know how to ignore, only impose their own shallow will on others in any way they can through their church and letters. They expelled a student for a lyric in a rap battle that involved a threat to the school. Read it yourself, and decide if it's a threat, or just expression: So watch what you say about me, I'm everywhere son / And the word of mouth is that I'm carrying guns / Now that I'm comin' for you - what the fuck you gonna do / I come double with the pump tons of slugs that will punish you. Assume that you take this as a threat. Assume he says, flat out, "I'm gonna fucking shoot up this school!" He should not be expelled. Period. Neal, you idiot! Don't you remember Columbine? Fuck yes I do! We should execute those horrific mother fuckers. Then the next kids who consider attacking a school will realize it doesn't end in newspaper coverage, but death. But hey, we wouldn't do that, would we? That would be cruel. But that's not even the issue here. The issue is that in the United States, it's not illegal to threaten people. It's illegal to ACT on threats. Or at least it WAS, before the Patriot Act was passed, making anything seditious or deemed a terrorist act by the president or a set of lackeys illegal and punishable by indefinite detainment. But then, that's not what happened here. This was a kid who spouted off in an insubordinate way. That's all. He expressed his freedom of speech. Thankfully, the courts let him back in. But it's a fucking travesty that the school is paying attention to this shit instead of the waning reading levels. Give the little punk the attention he wanted. Good way to stop him from saying the things you don't like, idiots. Citation Infinity broadcasting, a company that has bowed to the Nazi censor hand of the FCC, swore that it would immediately suspend any broadcaster even ACCUSED of wrongdoing by the FCC without internal investigation. For this, it is losing money. The FCC fines them, and then Stern acts up, then they have to suspend Stern, then they lose his ratings and the money. This is what happens, and deservedly, to a company without a clear vision. They should have stuck behind Stern or fired them. Now they have the cake of fucktard, and they can eat it too. Good. I'm seriously considering buying Sirius. Citation And why? Because it's like cable. With cable, because it's a pay service, there's no government regulation, and though they hold themselves to certain standards and practices using common sense, like we really should be doing it with all stations, pay AND free, the FCC can't... Oh wait. They're gonna try. Citation Yes, you read right. They're going to start fining cable companies. Which means that my favorite show, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, is now threatened with fines for being "indecent". I hope you see the danger in this. If you don't, I truly pity you. The biggest loss? The Daily Show is the only show on television taking anyone to task. The next biggest loss? Any show even coming close to what it does, if it gets canned or fined, will not dare. This is government sponsored suppression of dissent. This doesn't just apply to the Daily Show. This even applies to a man I hate, Robert Novak. He said "Well I think that's bullshit, and I hate it." and walked off CNN a few weeks ago, and was suspended for it. People shot letters to the FCC, ignorant people who don't realize they don't censor cable, and asked to have him fined. Citation While I am glad they fired Novak because he's an auspicious prick who's broken the law fragrantly, I am unhappy that the excuse they chose was the unprincipled one of slamming on him for saying, perish forbid, SHIT. Even Family Guy is getting shit on. They did a song about AIDS, a funny bit, and all of a sudden the gay and lesbian community is outraged. As the below article indicates, the reason for the rage is what happens in the episode: "In the show, the program's main character, Peter Griffin, offers to tell a friend that his wife is cheating on him because of his self-proclaimed gifted way of breaking bad news to people. As an example of this alleged skill, the program shows a flashback as to how Peter told a gaunt man lying in a hospital bed of his AIDS diagnosis. The man is also depicted as young and sporting a goatee, possibly subtly suggesting that he is gay." Now, get this. Family Guy pokes fun of its main character by suggesting that he thinks he's good at giving bad news. How? By showing how inept he is at giving out bad news. That's not a slam on AIDS, or gays. But what do you make of what the reporter for this article says, that if you're young and sport a goatee, it's a subtle suggestion that you're a homosexual? Now who's out of line, huh? Citation And what would a good article on censorship be without a crappy piece of art that no one gives a shit about, with a bunch of people trying to ban it because it relates to something they don't like or are afraid of. Like this one, where some numb shit attached a fetus head to a seagull and puts it in brine. It'll hurt the children! It's offensive! It's disrespectful to the dead! THEN DON'T TAKE THE KIDS, DON'T LOOK AT THE FUCKING THING, AND FEEL FREE TO HATE THE ARTIST. But if you can take down his art just because you don't like it, why do I have to listen to you bitch about art if I don't like THAT? Citation Citation Missouri has now disallowed topless clubs, where the patrons, the performers, and all of the employees are consenting adults. Bullshit. Citation A doc tells a fat bitch she's fat and that she has to lose some weight or die. This pisses her off, so she calls the media. FAT. BITCH. Citation And finally, courts have ordered Kazaa to make it impossible for people to download copyrighted material with its program. Of course, given that it tells people that doing so is illegal, and tells them not to do it, well, I guess that's not enough. By this logic, we should end radio music, because it can be taped. We should only release public domain television shows, because it can be taped. And we must end multi-media, because the only way to stop thievery of copyrighted material is to make it impossible, right? NO! EAT SHIT! We should allow people without scruples to do what they're going to do anyway, because PROLIFERATION leads to MORE media purchase, not LESS, unless the media has NO VALUE. Citation Assholes. |
