number 65 for 10-3-05:

Hillary Clinton Caused Teh Suck

Now DeLay has been hit with money laundering...no surprises there. Another charge, one in a line of many. How many until he's removed from politics?

The truth is, according to polls, his indictment doesn't change much, because despite being brought up on charges, more than half of us have no idea who Bill Frist or Tom DeLay are.

      THAT is the crime here.

Karen sends in a no-shit story...pre-school children are bringing the flu into schools, mostly because they aren't vaccinated, but are still allowed into large, public areas with the other kids.

I don't believe in tests as a standard of measurement. Let me make that clear. I hate it. I believe learning is measurable only by the assessment of a trained, intelligent person, is subjective, and does not involve rote.

I do not believe, for instance, that because I got an 1170 on my SAT, that I am not a brilliant writer and construction worker. I am also a tactical logician. These things, they are not reflected in my score.

BUT. BUT. I know, I knew, and I will always know that the SAT is the criterion of measurement for getting into college. So I took it. And I did well enough to get into college. Had I done as I'd pleased and not studies, I might have gotten a 900 and still been brilliant.

It's the system. And it sucks. But it IS.

So when 20 percent of kids fail in Los Angeles because the test is hard, I have no pity, even if I resent the test.

The article plays it up to be a race issue, saying that because more blacks are failing, the test needs to be adjusted.

NO. What needs to be adjusted is not the standards, but the fact that our society encourages and fosters learned helplessness in black people and racism in white people. This makes black kids want to blame the test for them failing it, and white people, to complete the cycle, promote blacks less and fail to give them higher paying jobs so more is spent to educate their children.

But it's not a race issue. I won't make it one. That's what the article is trying to promote. This is an ACCOUNTABILITY issue. I hate tests, but if tests are the norm, the test is the standard. You fail it, you don't change the test. You study HARDER.

And they even get to take it more than once. Moving kids along to care for their feelings as opposed to improving their worth is RIDICULOUS.

The critics of the test had this to say:

"The state, for example, could allow seniors to submit portfolios of work that demonstrate mastery of English and math, the report's authors suggested.

The report also proposed that schools allow students to spend an extra year in high school or earn diplomas by completing special summer school programs in lieu of the exam."

Yes. They could. But they're not. And if the students know that they're not (yet) and they fail, they should not be accommodated.

The world DOES need failures. Lord, do I know.

No shit story: Bicycle sales UP.

I wonder, however, demographically, how many belong to the poor, who are already fucked out of the good jobs. I'd really like to know how many rich people have to bike to work as a necessity.

In other news, Halliburton just got a 74 million dollar bonus for completing work ahead of schedule. Just, you know, free money as a thanks.

When's the government going to thank me for falling into squalor ahead of schedule? That helps them stay in power, you know...just like Halliburton.

Another article about a community freaking out over something they find offensive. Kids put reindeer fucking on their roof for a party. The neighbor calls the fucking police.

The police then had to explain that this is America, and we have freedom of speech. Outrage ensued.

The best quote I read is the one where the guy said, "Yeah, vulgarity is okay in a joke, but it should be taken down quickly. Especially when kids are around."

Uh, yeah. Or you can parent your kids and look out for them, which is your job, and respect the freedom of speech in others.

This made me laugh. An article about how stereotypical and repetitive most Hollywood movies are.

And it's writing in a banal, repetitive, already been done by seven million armchair internet critics style.

Ah, sweet irony, smite this bitch!

Well, we have a new Supreme Court nominee. I'm gonna be an average American and base my judgment on her looks. She looks evil. So I don't support her.

Seriously, though, I don't support this nominee because she's never been a judge. I don't care if she contributed to Gore. I don't care that she contributed five times more to Bush. I don't even care about her position on abortion.

She hasn't been a judge, she shouldn't BAM, be the high judge of the land. Doesn't make any damned sense.

Didn't FEMA teach us anything? Experience means something in a leader.

For that matter, didn't BUSH teach us anything? The man who said that he needed to learn more about the local and state governments of Louisiana and Texas when he was the GOVERNOR of Texas?

The nut who started the fire to get CHRISTIAN THEOLOGICAL DOCTRINE placed in the CHURCH STATE SEPARATED courthouses he involved himself in, who FORCED PRAYER on his court, is running for the governor of Alabama.

      Gee, wonder if he'll win.

Hillary Clinton attacked Grand Theft Auto for having a nude scene, spending government money attempting to censor a private company's product no one forces you to buy.

As a result, sale of video games that involve sex have increased.

      Ha, ha, ha.

      Bitch.

Man kills another man with a pair of scissors. Gets four years.

      Why such a short sentence?

      The man was a transsexual.

Either that, or the man was just sincerely repentant. Could be.

But in the US? I'm gonna go with because he was transsexual.
