Welcome to the home of the very worst of the meretricious poetasters!

number 70 for 10-9-05:

We Wonder Why the Kashmir Hate Us...

      Little social experiment...

I turned on Fox News, CNN, and Headline News just a second ago, to see what they were focusing on.       CNN was doing an expose on Saddam's trial, which is still a ways away.

Headline News had a very annoying man attention whoring himself for his anti-abortion cause, screaming, "I WILL NOT FORGET THE DEAD BABIES! I WILL NOT FORGET THE DEAD BABIES!"

Fox News had a financial show on, talking about how events change the stock market, trotting out a bunch of experts to speculate on something they can't really do anything more than guess at.

What happened, I ask you, when Katrina hit?

Well, they were all THERE. BAM. They were in the streets, trotting out black people, saying, "Whoa! Look! A black dude, and he's yelling! Look! And look at how POOR these people look!" and etcetera, you saw it.

In Louisiana, the latest death toll I could find puts the number of dead at 1,033.

I don't know how much any of you have been paying attention, but there was just an earthquake that killed over twenty thousand people in Kashmir (that's near India and Pakistan, sorry, I know that should be obvious, but I have to say it).

How many news organizations are covering it? Is it round-the-clock news coverage as they pull a leper from the remains of a building? Where's the international aid, the interest, the outpouring of caring that the Red Cross might make its administrative fees?

Answer: It's not there, just like it will never be there for the twenty thousand killed by the United States "liberating" Iraq.

We just don't give a shit about anyone other than ourselves. You think the blacks have it bad? Try being a kid trapped under a building in Pakistan right now.

Not to belittle what happened in Louisiana, not at all. I'm just showing an order of magnitude, and suggesting that those who expressed an outrage at the United States response to Katrina take a GOOD, HARD look at our response to this earthquake.

Especially the media, who were first to prosecute Bush in the court of public opinion who are now sitting around collectively with their thumbs up their ass after 20 thousand people have died.

      Hypocrisy.

It's the front page of the main sites today...will it be tomorrow?
