![]() Welcome to the home of the very worst of the meretricious poetasters! number 77 for 10-25-05: The Media is Not Your Friend This is a column that Felix wrote in his live journal about a week ago. I asked him I could publish it, and he agreed. It's my fault that it's a little late. I'm sorry about that...Neal. The media is not your friend. I've come to learn that, and it's sad that an institution that once worked for the people, now works for the government. My uncle, one of the smartest men I know was once a person against Governor Bush, but after a conversation with him last month I've learned that fear is an excellent weapon. This was a man who called for the immediate impeachment of this man, and now he's behind him. Why? Not because he believes in him or his methods but because he's scared. He told me that right now the only person leading this country is someone we should get behind or else the country will fall. It's sad that it's come to this that we follow a man not because we believe in his rule, but we're too scared to see what will happen without him. He went on to say, "We shouldn't completely turn against him, because he's the only leader we have right now and we could get bombed", and I was annoyed but I saw where he was coming from. When the media tells you non-stop "Without this man you're lost", you begin to believe it, which is why I don't read or watch the news because the media is not a source of truth anymore, I don't believe it ever really was, to be honest. Regardless, I've read and learned about this new media working for the government to keep us in control, from reading independent news sources, and watching "Weapons of Mass Deception", it's clear. Last week for example, the bomb scare in New York, call me arrogant but I just didn't buy it. There were people scared, others criticized me saying I want to get bombed, and I'm not a real New Yorker, but it was obvious it was all a ploy. "But the men with guns in the subway make me scared" they'd say. Of course they do, that's what they're there for. "The men with the guns in the subway remind me that we're at risk". Of course they do, that's what they're there to do. REMIND you. Then it turns out, no the threat was for Sunday, not Friday like originally reported. Oh no now that it never happened it's being investigated. Oh, now that Bloomberg enforced bag searches, and everyone became panicky, it turns out "It was all a possible hoax". Well big fucking shit. I just didn't guess. You know what, if there is a bombing, life goes on, we'll suffer, people will die, and I do not want it to happen, the prospect scares me, but I'm not going to be scared because I'm told I should be. There are scarier things going on in my life than the boogey man and what he says the American people should do about terrorists. Get it? Hehehehe. In the end of the day I still have to work, I still have to take a shit, and I won't be controlled by fear tactics. I refuse to. And don't let it happen to you. For god sake. |
