Detective Work

They used to laugh at me

In school

Because I drank funny

I would take my soda

And unconsciously

Drink it from the corner of my mouth

I noticed it thereafter

Every time I’d take a suck

And when I drank it straight

It felt awkward and wrong

I wondered why for years

Until someone pointed out

That I slouch uncontrollably

And constantly

Eventually I put two and two

And got my answer

I hunch and I drink out the side

Because I constantly read

And when you read

A can gets in the way of words

And if you don’t hunch

It strains your eyes more

Than your back

I wish more people slouched
