I tried to explain it

It’s like

Talking Heads was the first alternative band, you know?

And The Clash was the first band to make music really accessible

Ramones were cool, but their music didn’t resonate as much

Not with just three chords

The Clash, White Riot, that’s just D and A, man, two chords

Sex Pistols and Ramones, they had the attitude

But I’m still listening to The Clash and

They’re still rockin’

So anyway, I can play the song like this

(And I play it slow and with technical skill, like the Talking Heads)

And I can take that same, simple orchestration like Talking Heads used

(And I play it hard and like The Clash, like I want to break the fucking guitar)

And yet I can keep the lyrics from the Talking Heads

Only come to a point and have some punk rock influence

Does that make sense?

And the video for White Riot

I see she’s never seen either band before

And thusly may miss the point entirely

But regardless

She nods. It makes sense
